Shellfish Growing Water Areas

Description A number of areas around the coast are designated as “Shellfish Growing Waters”. European Directives place requirements on Member States to protect water quality where shellfish are produced for human consumption. The protected waters are known as Shellfish Growing Waters. SEPA undertakes monitoring and classification of these waters in conjunction with Food Standards Scotland.
